MINIs are charming; totally unique, just like their owners. But, let’s be honest, they’re also small (after all, they’re not called MINIs for nothing…) This hot hatch has provided oodles of fun for a huge number of owners but quite a few breathed a sign of relief when the Clubman was presented; boot space! Extra legroom! Longer wheelbase!
Initially the Clubman was chosen to fill a gap in Lohen owner Andrey's personal motoring requirement. The hatch models carry little boot space and make transportation of people and goods difficult if anything beyond a regular day out. The additional capacity soon meant the Clubman became the go-to MINI for longer days out and holidays and the diesel engine generated a sensible amount of torque meaning the car was fun to drive without costing the earth in fuel.
Soon after Lohen’s racing ambitions became a reality, the Clubman was tasked with transporting team members up and down the country to some of the UK’s finest race circuits. Her most notable outing included a trip around Brand Hatch’s Grand Prix loop after a logistical mix up, but perhaps the less said about that the better?!
Tuning has remained relatively modest on this Cooper D engine. We’ve installed a Forge Front Mount Intercooler and seen a nice improvement to overall cooling and drive, but no huge power increases to speak of. This MINI runs by far the most comfortable suspension setup for a MINI by incorporating Koni FSD Dampers with Eibach Lowering Springs – sporty yet compliant, the ride quality has not been compromised and she handles superbly.
The Lohen Cooper D Clubman is a sophisticated looking car with colour-coded arches and OZ Racing wheels to suit. She’s been shod with the finest rubber in the business from time to time and currently enjoys Pirellis as her day-to-day tyres. We’re proud to have such a comfortable MINI available to customers as a courtesy car and welcome people to test drive the fantastic suspension.
